Yesterday morning my family and I took a trip down to Youghal in the East of Cork for the annual Youghal Medieval Festival. The weather on the day was marvelous! We parked up by the water and took a walk through the town for a while and then we made our way to the event.
The event is a free family event that has been held annually for the last twelve years to celebrate heritage week and Ireland's Ancient East! We arrived at the event which was held in the gardens of St Mary's College to be greeted by hundreds of other families enjoying the event. Among all of the families was British TV personality Vanessa Feltz with her partner Ben and her grandchildren who i was lucky enough to be able to snap a photo of!
There was loads to do for the entire family. There was arts and craft workshops, puppet shows, re-enactments, and the opportunity to hold some of the birds of prey which can be found throughout the British Isles. There was also a fundraiser for Youghal RNLI in which volunteers got locked into the stocks while children (as well as some adults) donated to throw wet sponges at them.
We spent hours at the event and loved every part of it! When we did leave the event we walked though the town and got ice-cream and sat down by the water before we left to go back home. I was lucky enough to be able to take various photos covering the festival throughout the day which later that evening I sent into the papers.
